It was a sudden decision of my husband to celebrate the new year 2011 at hogennakkal falls. On Jan 1st 2011,saturday, we had a small cake cutting ceremony by my son Ashish and started our journey from home at 8:00 a.m. Having breakfast in a hotel on the Hosur highway, we took the Palakod route and reached Hogennakkal by 12:30 p.m.
@ Hogennakkal Falls:
As we had thought, the hogennakkal place was heavily crowded and it was looking like people had abandoned Bangalore for 2 days. Since it was a season for boat persons, they were charging 200/- per head. We paid 800/- for four persons as there was no chance for bargaining.
The hogennakkal falls water path for boating is a stretch of approximately 4 k.m. It has many naturally and innovatively carved beautiful high rocks on both the sides through which 10-12 streams of water falls at short distances. The depth of the water was 120ft.
My husband was so fantasized to see such breathtaking water falls that he decided to dive and swim.
Here's the video of my brave husband's dive.
Brave Dive of My Husband @ Hogennakkal Falls
It is a very good and enriched place for fish lovers (I mean those who eat fish) as you get the freshly caught fish fries over there. It will be unfair if I don't mention about body massage, yes! you get well trained body massage people in Hoggennakkal to get relieved from stress and refresh yourself.
After enjoying a lot with those amazing water falls we left hogenakkal @ 4 p.m and continued our journey towards Thiruvanamalai. Overall Hogennakkal place is a very good place for enjoying a day with your family or friends.
